ABOUT OUR CHEF

Head Chef

Peter Henry was studying
chemistry at UCLA when he discovered that he was interested in a different type of chemistry – food chemistry. He decided to change his career aspirations and enrolled at the California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco. During his career
he has focused heavily in the organic food movement, running the first ever 100% certified organic restaurant in Santa Cruz, CA, The Cremer House. Passionate about his community, his restaurant worked in conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank and the
Homeless Gardens Project. These programs provided free organic produce to homeless and children’s shelters throughout the state as well as employing and educating homeless persons toward achieving jobs as organic farmers. While heading the catering and wedding
program for Pema Osel Ling Buddhist retreat center, Peter was privileged to meet and work with the Dalai Lama. Peter relocated to Pittsburgh with his wife due to COVID 19. Given his passion for great sports, the history of Pittsburgh athletics intrigued and
excited him as a landing spot. Most recently, he served as culinary director and corporate executive chef for a restaurant group in Pittsburgh. While classically trained in French technique Peter has global reach in his experience, having run restaurants ranging
in cuisine from beach fish houses to Japanese Izakyas and regional Italian trattorias. Peter is excited to grow within his new community here in Aspinwall, PA at the Cornerstone Restaurant.

Our emphasis is on fresh food. I find local sourcing to be quite important, I visit all of the farms & plants from where our food comes from.
